This is the Styes, the decaying remnants of a once notable port district. Under bent gables, the carcasses of the houses lean against each other—languid, broken, awaiting the peace of collapse.

You were summoned to this mildewy, rotting place by a letter from an A. Thornwell who claims to be a councillor at the Styes. According to her, there has been a serial murder afoot, who the locals call ‘The Lantern Killer’. A man has been put to the gallows for the crimes, but Thornwell believes that ‘The Lantern Killer’ is still out there. Even worse, she suspects foul machinations in the shadows. She hires you to apprehend the guilty party, as well as to uncover the dirty secrets that lie underneath the Styes.
